DTU 02206: Design of Integrated Circuits

Welcome to the home page of course 02206 Design of Integrated Circuits (or ICs).

This course is a lecture course for Master's Thesis students, and the course is lectured in English. Design of ICs is offered during the spring term by the Informatics and Mathematical Modelling department at the Technical University of Denmark.

Design of IC presents the fundamentals of IC design with an emphasis on CMOS technology for the design of complex, digital integrated systems. The course aims at enabling you to

  1. design basic cells as well as complex digital ICs using modern design tools,
  2. understand the basis of MOS technology, including the MOS field effect transistor, and to choose a proper production technology with due consideration of technical and economical terms,
  3. design and lay out fundamental digital structures in MOS technology with such a degree of proficiency that the circuits exploit the potential of the technology with respect to area, speed, and power, and to provide the participant with knowledge on implementation of basic analog circuit blocks in MOS technology,
  4. analyse and select computational and control as well as interconnect structures best suited for the design problem,
  5. train a structured top-down design approach for construction of digital systems.

In order to follow this course on IC Design, you should be familiar with the fundamentals of design of digital systems e.g. as obtained in the lecture course 02200 Digital Design and Computer Organization. Furthermore, a basic understanding of the fundamentals of electronics will be useful.

Hopefully you will find the information you need to follow the course below.

News The 2002 edition runs from 5th February through 17th May.
Written examination will be held on Thursday 6th June 2002.
