Are We Studying the Right Things?

• By `studying' we mean teaching our students and researching our field.
• Our answer is: no, not quite!
• We motivate this answer as follows:
  • As stated in section A TripTych of Software Engineering above, we can claim that
    Domain Engineering properly precedes Requirements Enginering.
  • And, as shown in papers [6] and [],
    there is substance to both the concepts of Domain Engineering
    and the idea that Requirements be engineered from Domain Descriptions.
  • But we are not teaching Domain Engineering
    and only one or two scientists are researching Domain Engineering
    and how to derive Requirements from Domain Descriptions.
