Mathematical treatment
of an adjustable surface formed by a fabric of interwoven flexible
wires
Albertsen, N.C., S. Christiansen, K. Pontoppidan, S.B. Sørensen
Abstract:
An adjustable surface which seems promising for the design of
reflector antennas is investigated mathematically, by deriving the
partial differential equation and the boundary condition. The singular
solution and an infinite system of particular solutions are given in closed
form. The stated boundary value problem is solved approximately by
means of the boundary collocation method with oversampling. The
solution method is illustrated by some examples, chosen to emphasize
the fact that the surface behaves like an orthotropic, elastic plate.
